There is an increasing realisation amongst the ground engineering community that geophysical methods, applied appropriately, can play a significant role in understanding sub-surface strata geometry or strata properties.  Geotechnology staff have considerable experience in the appropriate selection and deployment of the spectrum of geophysical methods, based in part upon 25 years experience in geophysical surveying and in part upon forward modelling.

Geophysics is the science of applying sophisticated sensing methods at the ground surface to reveal the properties or sub-surface arrangement of strata.  There are a large number of instruments to chose from and these can all be deployed in various ways, so the success of the survey depends largely upon the experience and expertise of those designing and specifying the survey.
